 Renfrew and Area Seniors Home Support Inc is a non-profit charitable Community Support Service Agency partially funded by the Ministry of Health through the Champlain Local Health Integration Network providing vital Community Support Services to Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities and Special Needs.

 Our Community Support Service Agency is currently recruiting a Program Coordinator for our Golden Age Activity Centre

 Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Recreation, Gerontology or Geriatrics or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a high demand environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Fundraising Experience
  • Excellent personal communication skills and with a comfort level for speaking in public
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and data entry
  • Be willing to take educational courses as required and appropriate to the job description
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a dedicated staff, volunteers, committees and community partners
  • Knowledge of the communities in which you will be working
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive, professional attitude, attentive to detail
  • Excellent social media skills (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Planning and Management Skills with an outgoing personality
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload and handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to handle personal and sensitive information confidentially
  • Ability to anticipate needs and independently take appropriate action
  • Passion for building strong new capacity at a rapidly growing agency

 

Areas of Responsibility:  Centre Management

  • Ensure that the centre is opened at 10:00am and closed at 3:00pm Monday through Friday
  • Keep the centre neat and tidy and in state of good repair and report needed repairs to the Advisory Committee
  • In conjunction with the Chair of the Advisory Committee, prepare agenda and staff report.  Ensure the committee package (agenda, minutes, financial reports, monthly calendar and staff report) is emailed to all committee members one week prior to the meeting.  Attend the monthly advisory committee meetings and any sub-committee meetings as required
  • Communicate with Chair of the Advisory Committee on a regular basis
  • Complete all duties assigned by the Executive Director on human resources and finance issues
  • Staff, student and volunteer supervision

Areas of Responsibility:  Direct Service Provision

  • Organize programming for seniors both recreational and educational. Produce a monthly calendar of events ready for approval at the monthly meeting of the Advisory Committee for the following month distribution.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect members and Advisory Committee rights
  • Ensure health and safety of members and volunteers
  • Keep up-to-date statistical information on programs and volunteers
  • Complete an annual survey with members of the centre each October
  • Ensures that supplies (approved) and cash floats required for programs and fundraising activities are purchased or prepared in a timely manner.

Community Relations / Publicity:

  • Develop Community partnerships in the catchment area
  • Ensure advertising for programs and fundraising events are financially approved, reviewed and submitted 14 days prior to event
  • Ensure a monthly newsletter/update is prepared and distributed to members and supporters in a timely manner
  • Keep social media up to date and any problems arising will be brought forth to the Advisory Committee Chair and the Executive Director within 2 working days
  • Promote the Golden Age Activity Centre

Financial Management:

  • Ensure members are paid up to date and recorded
  • Track and receipt funds. Complete deposit sheets weekly
  • Maintain all petty cash and credit card records
  • Accept financial donations and receipt, acknowledge with thank you letter
  • Reconcile all funds in a timely manner
  • Explore fundraising opportunities that would benefit the Golden Age Activity Centre

Volunteer Management:

  • Recruit, screen and provide names of new volunteers. Provide orientation
  • Collaborate with agency Volunteer Coordinator in all aspects of Volunteer Recruitment
  • Coach and mentor volunteers to take on leadership roles within the centre

Grants:

  • Research available grants to find funding opportunities in support of the centre’s mission and report to advisory committee monthly
  • Working in conjunction with the Executive Director, Finance Officer and Chair of the Advisory Committee, complete appropriate grant requests.
  • Ensure that the memorandum of agreements for each grant is met and that all information is tracked and reported appropriately and approved by the Executive Director
  • Report on the progress of each grant as part of the staff report at advisory committee meetings

Hours of Employment:

  • Permanent Full Time Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Must possess the willingness and ability to work at times outside normal hours
  • Must have valid driver’s licence
  • Annual Compensation between $35,490.00 and $38,220.00 plus benefits after 4 month probationary period
